US Music: Remembering a Legend

On this day 14 years ago rapper, Notorious B.I.G died after being shot down. Fans all over the globe have used today to remember the legend who helped revolutionise the Hip Hop industry and the music game.  B.I.G was first bought onto the scene by US superstar P. Diddy and quickly rose to become one of the best rappers that ever lived. His songs spoke about his struggle and how hard life was before he hit it big, one of the qaulities that made Biggy so special is he knew how to relate to his listenrs and fans found joy in listening to his music.

Music CatchUp: UK Music

Nu Brand Flexx are back on the rise and have shown the nation so by their newest creation ‘Spellbound’. From the looks of the video and the lyrical content, their inspiration came from a well-known substance which is very popular in Amsterdam and can also be found lurking on the streets of London and has now taken its stand in the music industry whereby it appeared in quite a few videos, springing up the intriguing debate of ‘why have artists started smoking in their music videos’? Bleieved to have been made poplular by US artist ‘Wiz Khalifer‘.

On another note Nu Brand’s new release is a cool mellow tune wih a partnering mellow beat to go with it which  allows you just sit and chill and vibe. All in all, a winner i’s thinks.

New Music: UK Music

New artist ‘K2’ has come together with fellow artists ‘Rapid’ & ‘Roachee’ to produce the single ‘This is My Hood’……. don’t let the title fool you, this tune is far from the rep your hood anthems that we have come to know in the past instead each verse tells a little story is/may be interpreted in the ‘Hood’ with a hook that brings the tune to life. The video is not to shabby either, it’s not too street and not too commercial but blends both aspects together nicely. It has a cool beat that allows the artist to just flow. All in all I give it 2 thumps up and I feel it has the potential to do well and go far.

US Music: Lupe Fiasco

Mr Fiasco went missing for a while but the good news is he’s back, and he has returned with what I consider to be a smashing single. ‘The Show Goes On’ taken from his up coming album ‘Lasers’ which is due to be released in stores on March 8th. Now about the single, what can i say?…. I love everything about it, the beat, the video, the message… it’s a cool lil’ number which conveys a cool positive message with a video that sets the title off nicely, a good single to introduce his new album.

‘Kanye‘ and ‘Jay-Z’ join forces again to produce ‘H.A.M’ the track is full of energy and will have hip hop fans bopping their heads indefinitely and may even convert some non hip hop believers, the dark mysterious beat comes courtesy of ‘Lex Luger’ (who is on fire at the moment producing some fantastic beats such as B.M.F and MC Hammer)

FYI Quick-Flash: 2010 Review

The new year approaches fast, but before it arrives its only right that we recap our self’s with the events of 2010. The fashion and music game sure has taken a huge turn with the UK rising up to be finally recognised for the talent it holds and we have seen the rise of artists the likes of Tinchy Stryder, N Dubz, Tinie Tempah, Labrinth, Giggs and many more.

In particular I was most impressed by the UK fashion scene, a lot of labels have come a long way and have made big movement. Labels such as VAG and Benjart really made an impact in 2010 and we witnessed Trapstar take on the corporate world and have opened their 1st store.

With 2011 fast approaching its nearly time to embrace the what may be the most difficult year yet, with all the changes that the government are making but I’m sure in spite of this new talent will emerge from the UK to take on the music and fashion scene and we shall see bigger and better things from those who are already on the scene.

Girl Power

Girl Power at its finest, the ladies of the UK music scene have taken over the Game Over track and made it theirs. They did take a different route and make the track more upbeat with their rhyming style but it works and I for one think they have given the fellas a good run for their money….. but that’s just me,
